Our Family So Far

I wanted to learn how to post photos on this blog thing, so I thought what better way to practice than with the pets.

Hippie is Loren's cat. She would love for you think she is a timid, sweet, tiny little kittie, but watch your back. The vet marks her card with a "C" for caution. She drew blood on everybody there last time we went. She gets her name because she latched on to Loren, started eating and living there for free, being a mooch of the best definition.

Cash (named for the Man in Black) is a true tough guy. He backs Jake into a corner and makes him cower. Just for the fun of it though, he never hurts him. He will run through the entire house gaining speed and pounce on you from behind. He's only 2 years old, so I think a lot of this is kitten still (I HOPE!). They are both indoor/outdoor cats, which helps tremendously, for us and them.

Cassady is a Saint Bernard and English Mastiff mix. She was the runt of her litter, but weighs in at 120 pounds. She had surgery early this year because her stomach had flipped. She is 9 years old, but doing very, very well.

And then there's Jake, my baby. Jake is some kind of Border Collie mix. He's full of energy, to say the least. His behavior has been improving as a) Cassady moved in, and b) he gets older. He's very smart, and loves to play games with your mind. His best game is the so sad look he can give you to apologize for whatever he did last that made you so angry. Loren even gives in to it, which made me glad to know, I am not the only one. He is allergic to dog food. Go figure, right? He lost a lot of hair and we spent a lot of money to find this diagnosis. As long as he stays on his prescription food, it seems to stay under control.

Now, you see what happens the minute we leave for work. These dogs have the life!
